We are not being critical of Microsoft here. In fact, we utilise many of their products ourselves and host our software in partnership with them in their very secure data centres! It's more a question of horses for courses. Excel is a great product but how many organizations would use it to run all their finance systems? Every serious business uses dedicated accounting software.
Similarly, Qudos3 provides a solution that is purpose-designed for the development and long-term operation of a management system. It is therefore, much more likely to help ensure controls are implemented to prevent a security breach, a safety incident, or other issue that could have very damaging consequences.
Choosing Sharepoint for that role may generate a small saving on a licence fee but is likely to lead to a less effective or efficient outcome, and cost a great deal more in time spent by the compliance reps, IT team, and general users.
